What's New for the 2025 Kia K5?
The K5 has undergone a design refresh this year. The interior now features updated materials throughout the cabin, and new ambient lighting is on the doors. Meanwhile, the exterior has a new head and taillight design. Given all this, the biggest change, though, is to the engine. The turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder has been discontinued, and in its place is a 2.5-liter engine with 191 horsepower.
Design
Besides its new headlights and taillights, the 2025 Kia K5's exterior appearance remains unaltered. However, the interior sees the most change. The layout has been updated with more high-end materials, giving the cabin a more upscale appearance and new amenities are littered throughout. These include new ambient interior lighting on the dash and doors, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Also, there's now more legroom in the back.
Performance
The new Kia K5 is powered by a 191-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine is available on most trims and comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Although, all-wheel drive is optional. In higher trims like the GT, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 lbs.-feet of torque is standard.
As for the K5's fuel economy, the EPA has not released any info on the base engine. However, they have released estimates on the more powerful 2.5-liter engine. When tested, they found the 290-hp engine has an estimated gas mileage of around 24 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway.
Technology
Along with a restyled cabin, Kia has also updated the K5's features throughout. Now, both the infotainment screen and digital gauge share a single large monitor that stretches most of the dash. The digital gauge is 12.0 inches, while the infotainment screen is 12.3 inches and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus controls for the vehicle's 12-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety
Even the K5's safety features have been updated, and now there are features like rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, and a surround-view camera that are offered in higher trims and optional packages. As for the base driver-aids, there's automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
